Mary’s Meals

Mary's Meals is a charity that aims to provide chronically hungry children with one meal every school day. Currently, they are feeding over two million of the world's poorest children every day they attend school, serving children across Africa, Asia, the Caribbean, and South America. Mary's Meals also supports a home for young people with HIV, abandoned as children in Romania.

Their vision is that every child receives one daily meal in their place of education and that all those who have more than they need, share with those who lack even the most basic things.

Decision Time chose to donate to the charity's virtual Christmas Dinner table. Each employee of Decision Time placed a virtual plate at a Christmas Dinner table - a very poignant way to visualise that not everyone has access to a nutritious meal, let alone a hearty Christmas dinner.

Sinead Higgins, Decision Time’s Business Director, said, "Children should never go hungry. Mary's Meals research has proven that a school meal can have a range of positive impacts on children living in poverty. When they are not suffering from hunger, they are able to make the most of their education."

"We were delighted to provide nutritious meals for thirty-four school children every day for a whole school year. We hope this helps them gain a better education that could be their path out of poverty."
